Energy Cells is installing and integrating into Lithuania's energy system a system of energy storage batteries with a total combined capacity of 200 megawatts (MW) and 200 megawatt-hours (MWh). In the event of a grid failure, high-capacity back-up storage can start providing electricity to Lithuanian consumers within 1 second. This will ensure reliable electricity supply to the grid until other sources of electricity generation come on line. This will be a crucial capacity for the connection to the European Grid System (GES) and the disconnection from the BRELL (Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) ring.
